2014: A Year in Review

HAPPY NEW YEARS! While we welcome a new year, we would like to take a moment to reflect on the one that has just concluded. 2014 was a year of transition for Hedgers Abroad. Finishing our contracts at our first job in Korea was a struggle of will and perspective that we eventually won; leading to a much better situation in public schools.

Let’s Go To…Oklahoma!

Just in time for Ryan’s Birthday, we were able to take a two week vacation to our home state of Oklahoma. During our visit we were able to spend time with the majority of our large families and participate in some of our favorite activities. We went hiking, shot guns, caught fish, drove red dirt roads, ate massive amounts of food, and laughed endlessly with loved ones.

While we were on the way back to the ranch for another fun filled day, we noticed a large amount of smoke. We drove towards it to check and see if everything was under control. There was an old rent house on the propery that was left completely trashed by the previous owners. In order to get rid of some of the trash, they had dug a deep hole for burning it.

Country Day

One of our first stops on our trip to Oklahoma, after some multi-family birthday parties for me, was actually not in Oklahoma. Since being in Seoul can wear on us country folks, we desperately needed a trip to the family ranch in Missouri. Living in the city has its advantages, but a relaxing day on the ranch can relax the most stressed and worn out individual.

This week’s photo challenge is called The Hue of You. Well, for us at Hedger’s Abroad it’s more like The Hue of Two ! If you know us, or have read our about section, then you know that we met each other while in college at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma. America’s Brightest Orange is the color that we haven chosen to best represent us, as we fell in love while wearing this wonderful hue and attending this beautiful campus.

Throwback Thursday – Okla-home

We have been living and working here in Korea for six months and have been loving every minute of it. However, there are still times when we think about home and reminisce about all the amazing things we left behind in order to start this new life together. We were both born and raised in the great state of Oklahoma. Many people only know about our state because of the musical, but for us it is a very special place that will always be our Okla-home.
