Gosh guys! We’ve been pretty quiet over here at Hedgers Abroad for the past couple of weeks. A lot has been going on and we’ve been so busy that we had to simply put our blogging on hold. The main reason for this was Ryan’s mom coming to visit us! She has been to Korea twice now. The first time she came, it was our first year, we were still living in Seoul, and we were just Korea babies. Continue reading

Ubud Busy Markets
Markets are often the heartbeat of a country. The lively streets of Karna Street in Ubud and the traditional market nearby were both excellent representations of Bali in their energy and vibrant colors. Though heavily trafficked by tourists and motorbikes alike, Ubud’s markets had tight enough quarters to feel somehow intimate and welcoming. Continue reading
Phnom Penh’s Royal Palace
The Royal Palace of Phnom Penh is the epitome of Cambodian architecture and opulence. Still maintaining a monarchy, Cambodia has worked hard to preserve their Royal Palace as a tourist destination and cultural icon of Cambodia’s past. While travelling through this country in early 2015, we took the time to visit this gilded estate and see its beautiful grounds for ourselves. Continue reading
The Fourth Festivities
There are few things that unite foreigners living abroad than national cuisine and holidays. Sure, we have friends from all over the world with their own unique holidays, but everyone comes together for the common purpose of community regardless of nationality. This past weekend we celebrated America’s Independence Day with a motley group of Americans, Canadians, Brits, and Scots. Continue reading
Explore More – Bangkok Waterways Video
Bangkok’s canal network is an oft-overlooked part of the city. With unique perspectives on Thailand’s capitol city and what it used to look like, Bangkok comes alive in the vast network of waterways. For a few hours a canal tour of Bangkok will surely satisfy anyone willing to put their apprehensions of safety and certified boat operators aside. Continue reading
Birthdays and Friends
This past weekend was a great success. My 28th birthday was spent on the beach, camping, and in the company of good friends. I quite enjoyed myself, even though I have to share my special day with John, who swears that his birthday is more important… Continue reading
Buddha’s Birthday
May is one of our favorite months here in Korea. The spring flowers have gone, but the mountains are bright green against the clear blue skies. Everything feels new again and slowly but surely, every temple in the country starts hanging their seemingly endless supply of lanterns.
Let’s Go To… High 1 Ski Resort!
Snow skiing has been a passion of mine since I still had the nickname “Lil’ Britches” and wore all of my brother’s hand-me-down winter clothes. At four years old (I turned five on the 2nd or 3rd day of skiing, but it still counts) I first hit the slopes in Colorado’s Winter Park Ski Resort. Continue reading
A Day in the Life – Winter Camp Music Videos
Every year we are give ample vacation days but they come with one caveat: plan for and host a camp after school has let out. Typically our most enthusiastic students tend to be the ones that sign up for camp but they never really know what they are in for until we get underway. Continue reading
Roadtrippin’ South Korea
Yesterday we started the new year at school. We had a long and much appreciated winter break, but now it is back to business. We’ve been doing our best to keep up with posting about our long vacation in Thailand and Cambodia, but since then we have taken another trip, this time around Korea. Continue reading
