Guys… We’re Back!

Gosh guys! We’ve been pretty quiet over here at Hedgers Abroad for the past couple of weeks. A lot has been going on and we’ve been so busy that we had to simply put our blogging on hold. The main reason for this was Ryan’s mom coming to visit us! She has been to Korea twice now. The first time she came, it was our first year, we were still living in Seoul, and we were just Korea babies.

Yeosu City Guide – Kayaking

Of all the wonderful outdoor opportunities Yeosu has to offer, kayak is probably the most overlooked. Being a coastal city, Yeosu had plenty of access to water and the views from our beaches are pretty amazing. While the beaches, Cable Car, and ferries may get most of the attention on the waterfront, there are several facilities for renting and using sea kayaks around the bay, and each has its benefits as well as drawbacks.

Birthdays and Friends

This past weekend was a great success. My 28^th birthday was spent on the beach, camping, and in the company of good friends. I quite enjoyed myself, even though I have to share my special day with John, who swears that his birthday is more important… 

Feeling Grateful

The warmer weather is finally here and it has done wonders to lift our spirits. Even the seemingly endless days of desk warming at school aren’t near as difficult to endure when the office windows are open and the sounds (read: screams) of students playing on the school field are filling the room.

A Day in the Life – Our Final Apartment in Korea(?!)

Stephanie and I hate moving; that should be said outright. We can travel for weeks on end, living out of two small backpacks and sleeping in a revolving door of hotels, but changing our base camp always presents itself as a much larger chore. Each time we’ve moved we have rediscovered just how much stuff we’ve accumulated.

Gotta Get Out

Desk warming is the most boring time of the year for all ESL public school teachers in Korea. Before and during testing, you have nothing to do other than sit at your desk for 8 hours. Usually I would lesson plan during these times, however, if I get too far ahead, then I will have nothing to do in my down time in the future.

We typically share our travels and experiences here with you, but I figured I would break the norm and share a little of our day to day lives with you guys! Maybe it’s all the rain we’ve been having for the last two weeks but I’ve been reflecting and getting a tad bit sentimental.

2 Years?!

The people who landed in Seoul’s Incheon International Airport on February 13^th, 2013 were different from those you’re hearing from in 2015. While celebrating our second anniversary abroad we had a nice dinner with friends and toasted a second year of adventurous living with quality people.
